Why am I Running for City Commission?

Exploring Winter Springs, Florida: A Community Poised for Growth and Improvement

When I moved to Winter Springs, I saw it's beauty and potential.  As I've dug in and planted roots as a resident, my love and appreciation for this city has only grown.  It is that pride that inspired me to get more involved.  I love my home and the property it sits on.  Unfortunately with our current infrastructure, my property and the properties around  us are at a constant risk from raw sewage and flooding.  Roads, bridges, fire hydrants, and other key components have been neglected.  I love the parks and amenities we have access too, but we need the foresight and funds to maintain what we build and make them accessible and usable for all residents, before adding more.  As an elected commissioner, addressing these issues and many others would be paramount to enhancing the quality of life for all Winter Springs residents.

The Allure of Winter Springs

Winter Springs has beautiful natural surroundings, including the Bear Creek Nature Trail and Central Winds Park.  With so many great green spaces and outdoor activities, it makes it an ideal location for families and nature enthusiasts. The Tuscawilla community, with its well-planned neighborhoods and golf course, is a testament to the quality of life residents of Winter Springs have come to expect.  We want to make sure these special features continue to be here for us and future generations.

Moreover, Winter Springs boasts excellent schools, low crime rates, and a strong sense of community, making it a desirable place to live. The annual Winter Springs Scottish Highland Games and various local events foster a lively community spirit, further enhancing the city’s charm. In order to continue all these positive perks and grow our community to host even more, it's vital to repair and restore the community's trust in how we govern and keep finances in check for maintenance and improvements.

Challenges and Areas for Improvement

Despite its many positive attributes, Winter Springs faces several challenges that need to be addressed by its elected officials. I'm committed to seeing that through.  In the corporate world I have a proven track record at looking at the big picture and fine tuning a plan to put into action.  In my volunteer spaces, I am well adept at planning events, fundraising, getting creative, and bringing people together for the greater good.

Moving Forward as an Elected Commissioner

As an elected commissioner, addressing these challenges requires being fiscally responsible, a collaborative approach, working closely with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders. Prioritizing infrastructure improvements, economic development, environmental sustainability, affordable housing, and community engagement will pave the way for a brighter future for Winter Springs.

Winter Springs is a city with immense potential. By tackling these critical issues head-on, we can ensure that it remains a vibrant, thriving community for generations to come. Let’s work together to make Winter Springs an even better place to live, work, and play.
